When you hear that term, what is the first thing you think of? I know what high definition (HD) is, 3D pictures and such, but what is the visual 3D equivalent for audio?

I posted a link in the craftsman section of a fellow whose tinkering in his basement is creating a remarkable turntable. Going upstairs you witness his foray into speaker building and associated electronics. I'd reckon it's a statement in high resolution audio.

Higher clarity of sound and a lower amount of anything else that can get in the way of that. That would mean streamlining, I'm guessing here, the path between the source of the sound and the source of the output of sound.
