Greetings,

I have an ELAC 50 H II that I am trying to get working correctly. The problem is the automatic drop into the play position. The arm moves into place, the release lever moves down and then two seconds later, the arm drops by weight of gravity, bouncing the needle on the LP and into the first track. Is there not a counter spring to lower the arm slowly? Anyone have advice?

Thank you.

Look for a hydraulic damper. The damper is probably shot so replace it.

Would this be inside the arms center spindle? Not the sponge on which it gets lifted?
