I have a new speaker project. It's a pair of line arrays I'm calling the DE912a Arrays of Awesomeness. They are dipoles (open back) with twelve 7" Dayton Audio Esoteric series woofers and nine BG NEO8 PDR tweeters per side. Crossover, speaker correction, equalization, and room correction will be done by a DEQX pre amp processor. I'll be using four channels of an Emotiva XPR-5 amp to drive them. Each tower stands 7' 11" tall. They should respond down to about 120hz, so a subwoofer will be required.

The backsides of those Dayton Esoteric woofers are too pretty to hide in a box.

Oh, yeah, Fred! Those are good lookin'!

Isn't it funny: Our wives would show off their closets full of shoes. But we show off our baffles full of loudspeaker drivers. Laughing

Those are stunning! I'll bet they sound fantastic.

You know me - I'm very fond of horns. I was impressed in my youth and influenced by Klipsch, JBL and Altec. But I must admit that another company that made a big impression on me was Infinity. I loved those Emit tweeters, especially in their big arrays. To me, the goal always was to have the clarity of the Infinities with the power of the Klipsch's and the JBLs.

So to me, what you have built there is pretty impressive stuff. I can imagine how they sound. Your tongue-in-cheek name "Arrays of Awesomeness" isn't so cheeky. They really are awesome!

Yes, it's a diy sub made from a Parts Express 2' sealed box with a 12" Ultimax driver and their 500W plate amp. A sub is required with these speakers. The open back design doesn't go much below 120hz.

Nice build Fred. They are bigger than my Martin Logan ESLs, but your sub is much smaller. I have used the DEQ for room correction and it will do that. But I felt in the long run it did more harm to my acoustics than it did good. The Behringer electronic crossover (set for 24 db/oct at 45HZ 2 way) is another story. It is great for separating the sound to the subs and seems invisible.

Good Listening
