Peter Tork died today.

I remember watching the Monkees TV show when I was a kid. I was pre-teen, so I didn't care about whether they were "real musicians" or not. I just liked them.

As I grew up, I watched them work towards "legitimizing" themselves as musicians. But I still didn't rate them based on their musical talents. They were teenage actors that became musicians.

I thought to myself, how many rock bands are all that much different?

Anyway, now two of 'em have passed on. Davy Jones and Peter Tork. I miss those guys. Think I'll watch a few of their shows tonight and remember them.

Yeah, I heard that today too. He was the only simian of the group that I found tolerable. Though he played a nitwit of sorts. I thought he seemed the least "contrived" member. He was the only true musician of the group. More info about his life on Wikipedia.
