An electric violin that is, check out Jackie Brown by John Mellencamp. Much of his newer music has this instrument as well.
It adds a different layer to the music, and also makes the songwriter have to write the instrument into the rest of the melody. This, I would think, would be a challenge.
In my opinion, the electric violin makes a song sound more "mature" in a way. what do you think?
