Have you ever noticed how the older sound systems take up more room than the newer ones? Have you ever thought about combining the two? Like having a turntable that has brand new, fairly small, speakers to ditribute the sound?

Or does that sound too gaudy?

Where speakers are concerned, bigger is better. Smaller is better for convenience only.

Some things can be miniaturized without penalty, but speakers aren't one of them.

See Hoffman's Iron Law.

I haven't heard of Hoffman's Iron Law before and I'm only semi-understanding it, but that's good to know and I'm looking forward to reading more about it. I thought that smaller speakers might be just as functional as the larger ones since that's the trend these days. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that it's all about the aesthetics.
