I know my son-in-law listens to some stuff that sounds like someone just yelling at the top of their lungs! I do not let him listen to it infront of my granddaughter because I think it teaches bad habits and hurts the hearing. Anyone else have an opinion?

I concur with you; there's need to regulate whatever we and/or our kids of the young ones listen to. I think that anyone that looks forward to parenting (someday) should be logical enough to be a good example.

As a parent, I don't let my children listen to bad stuff and I wasn't given free reign as a kid either. But, I have to admit that I snuck gangsta rap routinely as a kid as did my peer group. None of us took it seriously.

I think that the point here is not just about not letting them hear that kind of music but actually imparting the importance of listening to good music. Just like Madison, we used to listen to any kind of music (back then) but it was never that serious. Today's teens are much more different.

Amen to that! I agree that everyone should be able to listen to whatever their hearts desire with one caveat: Not under my roof and not with my children.

There's a difference between listening to music that spreads hate and screamo music. I understand not letting kids listen to hate music, but metallic and other loud music isn't always bad.
