A question for the music makers here. A friend's son is getting into music mixing, and I've been asked what the best way to start is. He's ten, so full commercial kits might be a bit out.

Do you have any advice on software of things he should look at?

I think that's the right age to get him started, but you'll need to manage him, lest he gets distracted in school. Have you checked for any apps that can slowly acquaint him to the basics?

I agree with mamoss, there should be some great apps out their for him to get started on. Some of them may come with premade beats that he just puts together and mix, but it's a great way to start.
