Is sound level meter an absolute tool in measuring audio/noise level? It looks small and simple so it probably can't replace the better system. I've heard that it's also used in noise pollution studies.

There are many different types for different applications, so I would say that yes, a sound level meter can be your ultimate tool.

This is a professional outfit you might want to try if you're in the market for one. (Or some).

Hi A better option is a calibrated microphone and feed it to a PC with a spectrum analyzer program. many are available and extremely useful in setting up systems in difficult rooms.

Good Listening

I've heard of the sound level meter being used in acoustic measurements. How different are sound level meters from dosimeters? Which one is often preferred over the other?

Looks great. Do you happen to know what the cost range is for something like this? I'd rather have a professional piece than others.
