I have a 14 month old who's into everything! We need to child proof all the components of our stereos (two in total) and hide the wires ASAP. Any advice??

My grandfather's response to a question like that was always "a swift kick to the rear", although I never once recall getting so much as a finger slap from Gramps and I was a pretty ornery kid.

When my nephew was that age his father and I built shelves for the wall above the TV to set the components on. We ran the wiring along the edge of a long mirror that hung on the wall and covered the majority of the wiring.

For the wires you can find those plastic protectors that you see in offices that run on the floor. If you can, place them along the floor where it meets the wall.

When my daughter was younger we found an entertainment center that enclosed everything, including hiding the wires in the back. We even put those locking tabs on the inside so that she couldn't open the doors.
