My new stereo for my car has it's own EQ settings. I've never had to set these before, but without it my stereo doesn't sound that great. Can anyone tell me what each number stands for and what the best way to adjust this is?

It's probably a graphic equalizer, not parametric. So each knob represents a frequency band and you can adjust the level of each one.

Set for taste. Most people prefer a little more bass and treble than midrange.

Personally, I prefer stereos with their manual equalizer settings. It allows me to adjust for times when it's all about the bass and for times when it's not, depending on my mood. Try different settings and eventually you'll find one that is just right for you.

Thanks for the input. This stereo does have it's own settings for classical, rock, etc. I just don't like the way any of these sound. I've messed around with it a little bit and it sounds better, but I still think it needs more work.
