Wayne I put together the 4 Pi speakers in April of 2011 and am wondering if there are any changes or upgrades I should consider.

Thanks

I saw a post from 2012 with the change to H290C waveguides and DE250 driver. Is this the recommended configuration?

Wayne,

I have a set of 4Pis with DE250 and have just ordered a pair of H290C waveguides from you. I understand there is a change in the crossovers. Would you email me the crossover diagram with the changes I should make?

Thanks
Mike

You've got mail!

The changes are pretty simple really. Remove C1 and install Rs. The schematic and the PCB layout show locations for each.

My 4Pis are about 5 years old. I just ordered the H290C horns and already have the DE250. I was just checking my crossover and removed C1 to try it out.

I do not have Rs shunt resister installed and was wondering what wattage it should be?

I also noticed C4 in the woofer circuit was 20uf instead of 10uf. Was this an early version and should it be changed?

The change from 20uF to 10uF in position C4 slightly shifts the forward lobe so that it is more centered vertically. When C4 is 20uF, the vertical nulls are located 15° above and 25° below the center of the baffle normal. So the forward lobe is oriented slightly downward. When C4 is 10uF, the forward lobe is centered, with vertical nulls spaced +/-20° above and below the centerline.

The resistor in position Rs should be a 10 watt part. It is required for the H290C waveguide, so please install it when you mount your new waveguides.
