I built a pair of 2 Pis earlier this year, and am getting ready to start a 4 Pi build. I think I am also going to build a sub or two to go with my speakers. I know about the 3 Pi sub, but am also considering the Anarchy Tapped Horn. What should I be looking for in a sub to pair with these speakers?

Flanking subs need to be capable of smooth output up into the lower midrange. It's just as important that they be they be faithful at medium-range frequencies as low. So they're called to take on more than just subwoofer duty. As for traditional subs or distributed multisubs - as long as crossover is kept below ~80Hz or so - then all you need is good clean bass.

Hi Wayne what range would you consider flanking subs to extend into medium range to be? 150hz?

Well, yes, they need to be clean at 150Hz, but to me that means I would really like to see them be smooth up to 300Hz so a shallow rolloff slope can be used. The key is blending, so we don't want an abrupt rolloff.
