I'm planning on building a pair of 4 Pis in the next few months. New 2226Hs are out of my price range, but it sounds like used 2226Hs can be a good option. I'm a little concerned about purchasing bad drivers, though. What should I be watching out for? What questions do I need to ask? Is a used driver for $150 likely to be in bad condition, or is it reasonable to think that I could find good 2226Hs for $150 each?

Thanks in advance,

The main thing to watch out for is aftermarket recones. A factory 2226H cone will have 71649-02 stamped somewhere on the back of it. As long as the cone is OEM and the driver is in overall good shape you should be fine...I've heard it takes a lot to kill a 2226. I got mine in good condition on ebay for about $130...they come up fairly often there.
