My daughter is interested in playing the violin. We have an old Cremona and want to buy a new one. I'm interested in one that can be played acoustic or electric. Any ideas? I'm looking to spend around $500 at the most.

There are some really nice violins out there but for beginners just visit your local instrument shop. You don't want to spend a lot on a violin (which can cost you $1,500 or more) when you don't know if she will continue with it. Have you tried eBay?
