Hi all,

Is there any disadvantage to using a switching supply like this opposed to a rectified transformer supply? I could make the amp and supply very small and light with this switcher supply and also allow dual power input (battery/AC). I am just wondering if the switching supply might make hash in the output or get weird when the volume is turned up (I expect load requirements are higher then).

David

You got to be more careful with placement and shielding because they throw a lot of RF noise. Other then that, why not if it's inexpensive enough.

I've got a preamp that I run from a 12v wall wort which is a switching supply. Every now and again I have some issues with it and grunge.

For what it's worth. Nowhere near the expert some of the other guys are.
