Been over here in the UK. and checked out a DJ and a live sound band. For speakers that can go on stands Alto(self-powered)speaker's are the way to go for a small system.

Check out there TS(a) series, both were 2-way's, one had a (15"/w1.75dia throat horn) and the other one was a (10"/w1.75"dia throat horn). As far as sound quality goes, it blew away any JBL or Mackie's smaller series systems that I've heard in the USA. And believe me they can go plenty loud if need be.

I would highly recommend them for a high quaility sounding, small, put powerful compact speaker system.
