A friend of mine was telling me how great his Tripath amp is and it costs no money practically. Another friend said the switching makes them sound harsh at high volumes and suggested a Gainclone instead. Both cost about the same. What do you all think? Which is better?
For the price, do both, check them yourself, sell the one you don't like.
That said, if your speakers are very efficient and revealing, the Tripath amp may be too much of a good thing. I found it works nicely with my Klipsch kg-4s but not my home grown full range speakers.
