Anyone interested in these little beasts there is a good site providing extensive measurements and modification for the Tripath chip and the Sonic-T.

octopusamps.com

He sells a modded version but he also provides for free a BOM; a Q&A and all of the schematics for the mods. Including photo-imaged build help and e-mail help. Very nice stuff.
I can see a great system with the Pi II speakers and a panasonic portable CD/MP3 player. It shouldn't break the bank at about 300$ for everything.
He deals with the issue I brought up earlier that the amp will get a tad shrill at times. You might find his measured response printouts interesting.

These seem to be out of stock everywhere. Target has a restocking
date of Nov. 4th.

I can't even find the Soundpax cardboard speakers listed anyplace
now. SI has come out with some new products-- not as interesting
as the old products.

All you need is some old cardboard boxes and the little soundpax vibrator; does the same thing.
I like the Brian Bell GC better myself and you can tweak it easily.
