We had a certain radio station on the air for several years here in Georgia, but then all of a sudden, the radio station didn't exist anymore. I caught the tail end of their last show, which featured one of the DJ's "signing off forever". Next thing I heard was a rumor about how the FCC shut them down. What's the deal with the FCC? Why would they shut a radio station down?

It's hard to say without more details. It's possible their license lapsed or perhaps they broke some regulation. Which station was it? Have you looked online for any information?

It happened to more than one radio station. I am also trying to figure out what happened there. I wasn't listening at the end, though. It must have been eerie to suddenly have silence after the broadcast.
