We've always had black-eye peas and cornbread on New Year's Day to ensure good luck and fortune in the coming year. It's pure superstition, but the food is good so we indulge. Wink

Does anyone else do this, or something similar?

We have black-eyed peas and collards as well as cornbread and some kind of pork every year for New Year's day. Supposedly, the collards and black-eyed peas represent how much money you will have in the coming year.
