Do any of you guys adopt a family for Christmas? I know people used to do this all of the time, but you don't hear about it much anymore. Some friends of ours have a 12 year old son who is auctioning his personal belongings to help give 3 local families Christmas. I thought that was pretty amazing, and in addition to helping him out we are adopting one family of our own.

A twelve year old, wow! You don't really think about twelve year olds being charitable like that. We did not adopt a family this year, but we have made some donations of toys and coats to some local charities.

It still happens a lot in small towns. People tend to be more charitable in tightly knit communities and you will hear about it more often. It happens in big cities too but you just don't hear about it as much.
