No, you probably better not. Not at least without testing to make sure a standing wave node doesn't line up with the port. It probably wouldn't if it were in the same place but just on the back, but without testing we wouldn't know for sure. It would have a different physical/spacing relationship with the midwoofer, so there's a chance of the port falling in a pressure node.
