Did any of you watch the Presidential debate last night? I'm no Romney fan, but I have to admit he came across better than Obama, even with all the interruptions.

You know, I saw this whole election as a "hold my nose and vote" thing until the debate last night. I saw Romney kind of like I saw McCain, as not my favorite, not even someone I really liked. Better than a socialist, I suppose, but not great. I hated feeling like the election was just triage, but that's how I felt.

But I must admit, I was impressed with Romney during the debate. I suppose this one performance doesn't give a full indication of what would be if he were elected, but it does clearly show that he understands the issues well enough to talk about them in a way most conservatives and even moderates would agree with. Will it swing the vote? Hard to say. I'll be interested to see the next two debates though. I'll bet they become quite vigorous.

Romney swung way back towards the center last night, which is a good strategy for capturing independents, but I have to wonder what those who cheered on his prior, further right-wing comments thought about it.

I watched as well. My biggest concern on either side is talk is cheap and accomplishment is tough. I'm not sure any longer that it much matters who is President. More who controls the House and Senate. If a majority of one side or the other then things might get done. If they are split, horrors and deadlock. I figure (very naive of me) that our elected officials should work together to find solutions to the Nation's problems. That doesn't seem to be happening. It appears that many have localized agendas and won't budge. That sort of official I feel has no place in a governing body. If everyone can't compromise and work together I fear we are in for another four or more years of grief. Regardless, everyone should get out and vote. If you don't vote, don't bitch.

Now back to my Jazz LP.

I do think it matters who the President is, but I agree with Bruce that the bigger issue is lack of compromise within Congress. The last four years the Republicans were particularly intractable, although the Democrats certainly haven't been above such behavior in the past either.

Well I voted today, so now I can just sit back and watch events unfold. There were some pretty crazy comments on both sides of the political aisle while I waited in line. My personal favorite was "Obama is going to take away the internet". Laughing

Sometimes people think their side is free from crazies, but I think it's safe to say you see them on both sides. Taxing or taking the away the internet, indeed.
