I was reading through a story about the church shooting yesterday and ran across this story about the Westboro church people and their hateful tweets. I am all for freedom of speech and religion, but these nuts are off their rockers!

Hi, I agree. There are some really sick people out there. I kind of wonder if some aren't looking for attention and the exposure in the media contributes to the situation. They get their two minutes of fame at the expense of innocent folk that happen to be around them. Worse I see no realistic way to stop the problem. Crying or Very Sad

Good Listening

About 3 years ago, those Westboro kooks announced they would be protesting at a soldier's funeral in the sleepy little town of Harrison, Arkansas, which incidentally is the headquarters of the Ku Klux Klan. EVERYTHING there is ran and controlled by them.

The police chief said in the local newspaper that they had a right to peaceful protest, and would be permitted to as long as they remained at the distance required by law. He then stated (and I quote), "We'll only arrest them if they get in trouble, to protect them."

I found that statement rather humorous, in light of the fact that a big group of the Bandidos and Boozefighters motorcycle clubs had announced they were coming to pull security. A friend of a co-worker who was there said there were several Bandidos with guns standing outside the funeral home at the visitation. There were some cops hanging around, but they never said anything to the Bandidos.

The next day, dozens of Bandidos and Boozefighters rode their Harleys in the funeral procession, which was escorted by the KKK. The Westboro bunch wisely decided to not show up.... guess they're not quite as stupid as they seem to be.

Now, I don't in the least condone the beliefs and lifestyles of the KKK and 1%er motorcycle clubs, but to me their reaction to those idiots' stupidity was quite amusing.

Then, here just a month or so ago, some group (I don't know if it was Westboro or not) announced they would protest at a soldier's funeral in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The fire department sent two ladder trucks, using them to stretch an enormous American flag over the funeral procession route. The townspeople lined up shoulder-to-shoulder and held hands on both sides of the road near the funeral location, thereby preventing the protesters from coming near.

Looks like they'd learn after awhile, doesn't it?
