We have surround sound speakers in our living room. When we watch movies with music it sounds awful. You can hear the background music more than the voices. What could we have done wrong?

Sounds like the surrounds are too loud or possibly you have lost the dialog channel. Check the settings and make sure the surround processor is set correctly for your loudspeaker configuration.

We did that once. The surrounds were set way too high. Hopefully that is all it is for you too; it is an easy fix.
