My stupid cable bill went up again. Sad If this keeps up I'm going to have to drop HBO, which would suck, but at least would save me $10 a month.

I don't think ten dollars per month is very significant. Dropping cable altogether and heading online for your shows is where the real savings are going to be.

Hi, join the pissed off majority. Mad There is a choice of CATV or Sat here. Both are ripping us off. Phone companies and internet as well. I remember when CATV here was $7.70 a month, now you can't get anything below about $75 a month and if you add premium channels or HD it's more.

Good Listening

We haven't had tv in this house (other than Netflix) in over ten years. I am still amazed to hear what people are willing to pay to watch tv.

I haven't had a TV in 17 years, and getting rid of it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Too expensive, and nothing but garbage on there anyway.

Internet service is FAR too expensive as well. When cable internet first came to this area, it was about $30 per month. Now, it's double that for the lowest speed service they offer. But, I do like my internet, so I suck it up and pay for it.....

Cell phones are another prime example of highway robbery. My first cell phone cost $25 per month, but the cost kept increasing over time, until it cost us $105 a month for two phones. And, that only got us 1000 minutes and 250 texts total , if I remember right.

So, we bought a couple of month-to-month, no-contract prepaid phones elsewhere. They cost about $80 each to buy outright, and the service (1000 nationwide minutes and 1000 texts each) costs $30 each per month.

We don't have tv anymore either other than Netflix. I work from home so I ahve to have internet, but I am in the process of canceling home phone service. Our cellphones are Tracfones and we got a triple minutes for life plan. I spend $20 for 60 minutes and I get 180 minutes. We mostly use the cells for texts so you can get 3 texts sent for every 1 minute of airtime. Smile
