Here is an intersting amplifier schematic on Kevin Kennedy's website.

I like the looks of this design from a simplistic viewpoint.
But, I am not sure about the use of a 12AU7 as the front end and phase slitter though.

Anyone with experience to share about this vacuum tube and possible amplifier circuits, will be greatly appreciated?

Thanks

Hey-Hey!!!,
It is after all a triode. Pick a load 4x the plate Z, keep it within dissipation limits, and even if you go PP, set the B+ so it remains Class A.

Should be better than the triode strapped 6V6, and plate ratings are similar...:) It's better( IMO ) to use a single-grid valve if you want a triode. Triode strapped pentodes seem a 2nd choice to me in comparison.
cheers,
Douglas

DIY audio has a whole thread on building an amp out of this tube. With schematic and pictures.

Cool, thanks! (nt) [message #9618 is a reply to message #9617] Mon, 03 April 2006 12:10 Go to previous messageGo to next message

Sound Practices had a schematic for a PP amp using a 12BZ7 driver - I was always planning to build one of these using a Kepco power supply - just to check it out...
