The other day in Target, a radio/CD/turntable system caught my eye with its quasi-vintage appearance. Have you seen these and would you consider buying one?

Those Crosley vintage lookalikes are kind of neat, but I prefer the real thing. You can get a real vintage tube radio on eBay for no more money than the Crosley retro radio. That record player in the Crosley is terrible, by the way. It's like the old kiddie flip-top record players from the seventies, complete with a low-fi ceramic cartridge.

So true, how much record player can you get for the price they charge for the whole thing. A kiddie player. Of course most folks who buy one have never owned a LP. Retro is in, at least for looks.

Good Listening

I agree with the others; I'd rather buy a higher quality record player and tube radio than the Crosley. I'm sure plenty of people will buy it, though.

My cousin actually bought this Crosley, because she loves my "real" vintage LP player. She was deeply saddened by the sound quality, and quickly returned it. I told her nothing can beat the real thing! Now, I have to help her find a nice, vintage player.

That's cute, but I've seen many similar to that one you found in Target. The records are making a bit of a comeback. I sure wish I had kept the extensive collection that I had as a teen.
