I just posted about vented versus sealed bass drums and that lead me to ask a related question: do most of you mic your bass drum from the batter or resonant side? I typically mic the batter head about half way between where the beater strikes and the edge of the drum at about 4 or 5 o'clock, especially if the drum is sealed. If it is vented and the music is super loud, I will give in and mic the resonating vent, but still try to catch some of the front head's resonance.
