Hi Guys

Theres a JBL 2245H on eBay I want to bid on and win, but when I zoomed in on the picture of the magnet he provided in the auction it clearly says 2240H. Its stated in the auction that the driver has been reconed.

So I was wondering maybe its a 2240H frame reconed with a 2245H recone kit? I emailed and asked the seller what the deal is, but have not recieved a reply yet.

If it is a 2240H frame with a 2245H recone kit, will the T/S parameters still be that of a 2245H? Or will they be something completely different due to the different BL strength and things like that? Including the xmax, which is longer on the 2245H, will this parameter change?

I need to know really soon as not much time left in the auction, only 16 hours left at the moment.

BTW: I know some recone kits arn't exactly to JBL spec as its not a genuine recone kit, its a recone kit by MWA so the spcs will be as close as possible as they are high quality recone kits. Disregard this aspect when answering my question please.

The basket and motor assembly is the same whether 2240 or 2245. The only difference is the moving assembly. Get a JBL C8R2245H recone kit and your woofer will be a genuine 2245 in all ways except the label.

Are you sure Wayne? I know both the 2240 and 2245 both use JBL's patented SFG (symetrical field geometry) and have a flux stablizing ring. Here is a link to the woofer that I did win:

I heard that on the 2245 though JBL did something to the magnetic structure in comparison to the 2240?

I won the auction for US$175 but I'm in australia so its a bit less due to exchange rate is good at the moment, if it really will be a 2245H then I'm glad even if its 2240H frame. It will replace my 18 Sound 18LW1400 in a 300L 25Hz tuned vented enclosure.

I'm not reconing it but as the MWA kits are apparently very close to factory spec, but are you sure it will be the same and have same xmax and all t/s specs as the 2245 even though its a 2240 frame? Dont want to pay the guy and end up with something inbetween that I cant even model a box around.

BTW: Wayne, its me, Adrian Mack, how ya goin mate? Been a long time! Gotta rebuild my midrange horns since they went missing after leaving the house to my brother, shame I cant remember what the dimensions were and my personal DIY website has shut down since Yahoo Geocities closed! Pretty sure I remember or havev written the dimensions of the midrange horns for the Alpha 6's though. Gotta be on Pi Speakers forum somewhere. Just got a pair of awesome Marantz MA500 monoblock amps with damping factor of 200 and S/N ratio almost 120db and is 125WRMS @ 8ohms per monoblock at 0.05% THD full freq range.

As for the 2240-2245, they share the same backet and motor so you're good to go.

Cool, thanks Wayne. Cant believe I got the amighty 2245H at such a cheap price!!!!! And I modled it and almost gives a Pi Ailgned rollff off in my 300L 25Hz tuned vented box. Now that I've got my own home back I am free to do whatever I want.

I need your help building the compensation crossovers (that I lost) for the HF horns, I think I needed about 8db difference. Please post me the parts schematics that I needed. Remember I have genuine 2370A horns with P.Audio PAD-45 compression drivers. Thinking of upgrading the compression drivers though as one is a lil damagaed and buzzes, what would you reccomend? JBL and Eminence I'm looking at.

Just bought a set of perfect contion 2225's for $480 in Australia. Not a bad price, I was bidding on something cheaper same model then 2seconds until end of auction someone else outbids and wins!!!! Grrrrr! Oh well its only a $50 or so difference I have to pay.

Does anyone have an opinon of the Behringer DSP1200P? I can get them real cheap at a lcoal pawn shop here.

I've had to sell parts of my system over the years due to finanial trouble but now make $60,000 a year beore tax except for the bad part I PM'd you about (the murder of my own mother by my own brother).

Slowly but surely I will rebuild this system fully and it will be like no other.

Not to dwell on that, back to business as usual:

That 2245 is one excellent subwoofer. It has long been my favorite of the 18 inchers. Super clean, great for home theater and hifi.

For compression drivers, the JBL 2426 was my favorite for years. I still am very fond of it. I now use the B&C DE250 for the top of the line because it is smooth as the JBL and about half the price. It actually even reaches a little higher too. The 2426 and the DE250 are drop-in replacements for one another.

The crossover I use in the three π speaker is shown below. It's very much like all the other models, as you know, with identical tweeter circuits having R1/R2/C1 values selected based on the required attenuation/compensation. The chart of values for various levels is shown at the following link:
