I'm going to build a pair of floor-standers for a friend who wants an MTM configuration for the system. I need to have the mid-range drivers operate at 8 ohms because he uses an OTL amp and I want to have a nice benign load. My question is if either will work in the design:

Do you prefer a 4 ohm pair in series, or a 16 ohm pair in parallel, and why?

Thanks.

Wiring in parallel increases the overall sensitivity, so if your mids are lower in SPL, then that's the way to go. Series increases the maximum voltage since the two form a voltage divider so if the mids can't handle much power, wire 'em that way. I wouldn't say I have a "preference", but that's the difference so if the specs lean one way or another, you can adjust accordingly.
