I've become a big fan of concert BluRays too. There are some great ones out there, aren't there?!!

There sure are and amazingly sometimes are cheaper than CD's of the concert. I really like Sully Erna Avalon blu ray. Although he is the lead Singer of the band Godsmack you would never know from his solo work. He brought in the drummer from Dead Can Dance and a cello player from Bulgaria. Music is along the lines of DCD but not quite as out there musically (DCD is one of my favorite bands). Lots of hand drumming. Very good sound quality.

I just bought Leonard Cohen's new CD yesterday. It is definite must have. Sounds phenomenal on the 4 Pi's. Hard to believe he is pushing 80.

Finally developed rudimentary REW skills. Here is the current measurements (L+R, Flanking Subs, and Near-Field Sub).

Sounds great.

I am very happy with the sound.

Working a building 4 surrounds based on the Eminence Beta 10cx and PSD2013S-8 drivers. Starting with the Eminence XO and if required will start tweaking the XO. I need to get it done fairly soon as I am going to Africa to battle ebola early 2015.

Wow, looks like you gotta travel the world some more, man, that's cool!

I'm with you on the surrounds. I like the sound of mains alone, and surrounds aren't needed for a satisfying experience. But having them definitely adds something. Some effects are especially dependent on the content of surrounds, especially action films. A good surround system really enhances the illusion of "being there" they're trying to create in some movies.

Haven't posted in a while. System has changed significantly. I bought a pair of JBL Pro Cinema 4645B's (w/ JBL's 18in 22242H driver). The cabinets were huge (39¾ in x 26½ in x 17¾ in) so I designed a new speaker that combined the 4Pi's and the 4645B's, with a bit of a twist.

Started out with the JBL 2123H drivers for the Midhorn, but transitioned to a pair of JBL 2012H drivers I had re-coned with genuine JBL re-cone kit). All JBL Pro drivers, which was a goal.

Decided the 4 Pi in the center was out of place, but due to not having an acoustically transparent screen had to come with a different plan (one that used the JBL 2226H's from the previous 4 Pi speakers).

Overall I am very pleased with the system. Running active with a dbx Venu360 processor (and a stack of Crown amps).

Wow, Steve, those look awesome!

Great to hear from you!

I love the color - Looks like a dark blue - is that the lighting or are the actually that color? Nice touch!
