When rebuilding old equipment, what do you recommend for lubricants? For switches, sliders, gear tracks, etc.

There is a cleaner/lubricant made especially for this purpose. It is available at most electronics shops in an aerosol can, usually called "tuner cleaner" or some such thing. Look for it where you buy flux remover. It's not the same stuff, but it's usually on the shelf in the same place.
