I'm in the market for a new receiver for my home theater, my old Sony receiver still works, but I'm looking to move from 5.1 surround to 7.1. Now money isn't really an issue here, but should I stick with Sony or try a different brand? I want something that will last and is near top of the line quality.

We have a Harman/Kardon AVR 347. It has 7.1 surround w/55 watts per channel and so far I'm pretty happy with it. They may have newer models out by now though, since we bought it a few years ago.
