Hi I have a problem with my right channel speaker! It starts to crack terribly when I turn the volume or bass (especially) higher.

Do I have a faulty speaker? Or am I able to troubleshoot this? With little knowledge, should I even attempt to troubleshoot the problem is that's the case?

The lunatics are in the hall.

Sounds like the voice coil is rubbing against the cone. This happens when the glue gets overheated and melts. Try gently pushing the diaphram, but gently!. If you hear nothing, then there is another culprit. If you hear any scratchy noises, that will pretty much confirm it. If it sounds like broken glass, then you blew out the voice coil unfortunately.

And why not take the driver out and take a look? That can't hurt anything.

If I were you I wouldn't take my word for it. I could be dead wrong. Let's see what the other people say.

You mean it is crackling when you turn the knobs? Have you tried cleaning the area around them? Buy an air can and give it a go. Or try swapping the speaker wires.
