When I first got this, I mostly played the accompanying CD while doing other things. Not impressed.

Last night I sat and seriously listened to the LPs. Mostly, I like it, especially the guitar work. No one has a cleaner sound than Knopfler. He would have been a great Jazz guitarist, technically excellent and inventive.

Knopfler and Dire Straights are a hole in my collection. I need to remedy that and get some. Back when they did "Sultans", I was more into Genesis and Yes so I tended to overlook them. I think I'll go back and have another look. Definitely way overdue.

Then get Dire Straits- On The Night..One of the best music dvd's out there. When they toured Europe they had between 7-8 guys in the band. even have a steel guitarist in there and is he good.

Bill, if you don't have it I would suggest getting the Screenplaying album. It has some really good music in it. Quite a variety also. There is a very good rendition of Goin Home at the end of it. Which was one of Dire Straits signature songs.
