Thanks a lot really do. What would make a radio work good from 500 to 800 then from 1200 to 1555 . but not in between.

Wow, that's a weird one. I've had 'em work well at one end of the band but fade at the other. That's pretty common, actually. But yours fades in the middle, then picks back up at the top of the dial, huh?

I'll bet this has something to do with IF tuning. You might do an alignment, or if you don't have a signal generator and scope, take it to a shop and have them check the IF alignment. Remember that the way a superhetrodyne radio works is to translate the (tunable) RF signal to a (fixed) IF for amplification. That way the intermediate stages can all work at a specific single frequency that the IF cans are tuned to.

Let me ask another question . Set when i turn off then back on does
not pick up any . Checked oscillator anode voltage is right.
Ican take meter probe touch osc coil where the plate voltage connects to it it will start working. It will play for hours .
Have to keep doing this . When i turn it on. Strange things huh. Rolling Eyes
Thanks Capbuster.

Sounds like it might be a bad IF coil.
