I've always been of the belief that we need to choose the various speakers on the basis of the design needs not vice versa.

For example, I wanted my midrange to be a unencumbered by a crossover as possible, so the mids needed to cover 155-2500 adequately, the crossover characteristics of a 24 db/octave, and dual woofers. Additionally if possible, I wanted the silk dome tweeter sound as opposed to the little bit more frenzied ribbon tweeter sound. And I needed to do this within a certain dollar value.

If you have unlimited money you have more choices.

So looking at design, I know upfront that I was looking for a midrange that had to be small enough to handle a wide range from 155-2500. And I needed a tweeter that could handle 2500 up.

These design criteria led to other choices.

But I never looked at a speaker and said I want this one, now how can I find a speaker to match it.
