Hi, I was the lucky winner of a single NOS JBL 2118H 8" driver, with these basic specs:
200 W continuous program power capacity
51 mm (2 in) copper voice coil
70 Hz-7 kHz response
97 dB sensitivity, 1 W, 1 m

The 70hz is based on a 0.5 cu.ft. ported box. It has 'Symmetrical Field Geometry', but no shorting ring. Anyone have any suggestions for using a single one of these? I'm assuming it would be close to Pi one material... I don't have a home theater now, but I guess it would make a wonderful center channel. I also have a single 2226J in the basement... I have set system, w/ very nice Pi 4's already, so I don't need it for that.
Any ideas?

I used to really love the 2115 in a one π loudspeaker, tuned specifically for that driver, of course. I was sad to see it be dropped from the line. Perhaps the 2118 will work for you too.

Thanks. I might try it in a Pi One-style cab and see how it sounds. I still have a pair under construction. It's hard to tell how similar the 2118 is to the 2115 because the specs are from different eras! The 2115 specs I found were prior to T-S became common. Looking on the www, it seems these are very popular in car audio. I might try it with a guitar amp. I'll keep an eye out for another one, in the meantime.

You're right that the spec sheet doesn't show T/S values. I don't recall if I got them from someone at JBL or measured them myself but I do remember it worked well in a pretty small box. Here are the T/S parameters and the spec sheet for the JBL 2115:

Vas 1.2ft3
Fts 55Hz
Qts 0.47
Qes 0.54
Qms 4.0

thanks- that is very helpful. So far it's in the box and I'm trying to find a mate for it on ebay or somewhere.
