Ok, folks----hopefully we'll be moving this weekend!!!!

I have storage for my LP's, but I'm going to have to think of storage solutions for my 400+ CDs.

Some requirements are:

Looks nice, narrow depth, preferably wood or bamboo--I like wood, and individual slots are OK but not a neccesity.

I don't want the dowel rod racks you see everywhere. I've had them before and think they are junk personally and would be a last resort.

My suggestion is to build shelves. That's what I'm doing. I'm making shelves with space for vinyl albums, CDs and DVDs, as well as books. The nice thing is - like all other things DIY - you can make it exactly like you want!

Target has some affordable media storage furniture that looks better than most. Here's a sample:

I found this DIY rack that seems very nice and easy to build. You could even accent the edges or such with exotic wood.

Oh, yeah! Those shelves look great, both in Fred's link and Shane's.

The shelves I'm building are really wide. They'll cover a long wall and serve as bookshelves and also for media storage. On another wall, we're doing smaller shelves with a sort of random cubbyhole look, mostly for trinkets and decorations. Something like this. I've seen this approach used for CD's too but I don't think I'd want to use it for them.
