Funny you ask, I've been looking about lately. The prices are holding but I don't see much movement. There has been places for sale in a normally fast moving neighborhood still on the block

I have a friend who's going to buy or build in south Florida and I've been looking at that a little. the market there looks like it's down 15% in price right now.

What's up on the island? I was looking while in Brooklyn last week. The housing market would have to fall at least in half for me to afford anything!

You were in Brooklyn? Why didn't you give us a yell. One of the hottest marketts in the U.S. is Brooklyn/Queens. Even now 25% increases anually and nothing stays on the markett more than 2 weeks. Lot of money too; little homes in Queens start at 700K. Thats due to proximity to Manhattan and very low taxes.

Sorry; caught the 6 oclock to JFK and 5 oclock home. had a few appointments and had to make haste. sometime I'll give a call if I have some time for lunch or so.

Housing is just incredible there isn't it? I mean, unbelievable. I saw the same thing your talking about. An Archie Bunker house for 3/4 mill. just astonishing.

Depends on the neighborhood really. 1400 foot in city areas are 60-80k
1800 foot in suburbs are 125-150k. nicer developments can be 2500 foot for 250-300. of course there is always a very nice place here and there 3500-5000 foot for 500k-1m.
I like to go to remax.com to look at areas. Lots of time they list the taxes. realtor.com gets you anywhere in the country but never show the taxes.

My Niece just bought a three story in Park Slope. Beautifull there; right by Prospect Park a block from the Subway. 12 foot ceilings and flagstone fireplaces. 6" oak mouldings and solid core oak doors.

That's pretty much in line with Cincinnati/Dayton. Somehow I had it in my head prices would be much higher. I was poking around the Brooklyn MLS a little yesterday. What amazed me was how little the taxes were. We pay more here!

The prices Bill just mentioned are for his area upstate. 500k would not get you a shed in Brooklyn.
