That JBL, a quintessentially American marque, won’t make their best stuff available here in the good-‘ol US of A. It’s like the Japanese won the war – you can get components (like the 1500AL) and speakers (like the S4800 and the 4348) there that you just can't obtain for love or money (legitimately anyway) here.

Maybe the market is small here in the US, but there can never be any market at all if you can’t get the stuff. And even beyond that I’m sure there are plenty of nut balls like me who’d not only be willing to pay retail to get these things but would also spread the gospel to the great unwashed.

“It’s not fair! Why does Yuchi get all the cool toys!” (said in an indignant whine while stomping my feet).

Is Yuichi still around? He has the same site for ten yrs. Why not order from over there through an intermediary?

I guess the principal reason is that when I can order from somebody within strangling distance I tend to be disappointed - I can't imagine the problems trying to buy internationally.

I don't know if Yuchi is still around; the name just popped into my head for a generic "Joe" name.

Let me ask you; is there something about the 15" woofers in the 1500 series that muight be better than say a TAD woofer?
Yuichi is Japanese for Joe?
( Sorry I couldn't resist.)

You're so right! I love the 22xx series (and the 20xx, 21xx and 24xx series) but it is frustrating that JBL sends stuff over the border that isn't available here. Eminence does that too, but that's different. JBL seems to target their statement products for the Japanese market.

That JBL thinks the US amrket is "unworthy" of their best.

Maybe it's a conflict with another driver? One that would cost them in sales if they moved the higher priced spread in?
