Do people really want the schools to be teaching about God and selecting one particular religion for the kids? And if so; should the Jewish people teach Judaism in the areas where they live and Santeria practitoners teach about the saints where they live etc; or should we pick one particular type for everyone?

Isn’t picking a single religion how most wars get started? why not leave religion in a church. Church can be a great thing. Organized religion's cause a lot of problems. Most likely more people have died over organized religion's than the number of people who have been saved.

When I was in school we had a menorah and a christmas tree in the school. I thought everyone was happy? maybe not. I don’t understand how we all survived the last 50 years being so politically incorrect, unsafe and abusive.

Hehe, the last 50 years religion was banned from schools here, if we don`t count "socialism" as a religion...
Now we have Catholic Catechism in the school - alternative is some sociology-based thing, and Ortodox Catechism in some areas.
But, this is relatively easy, because of large majority of the population are Catholics.

In a post he mentioned how he is angry with the government for trying to take God out of the schools and the Government. But I never had any religion in my schools and truthfully I don't see how it could be done in a fair way anyway; besides the fact that it is unconstitutional.
People say that to me sometimes and I am confused becuase there is a church on every corner around here so it isn't like they can't worship as they please.
Just doesn't make any sense to me and then to be angry about it?

I think people can have a belief and be serious about it and gather together to practice it. But it always seems to me that they really would rather be exclusive and take the us vs them approach than to follow the teachings of the faith of their choice. I mean most religions say Thou shalt not kill. It doesn't specify whether there is a time to ignore that; like during war or something. I mean no one ever said thou shalt not kill...Except under these conditions; see my list of exceptions..
The other thing is why you need someone to tell you how to behave anyway.

Your right. and not many will step up to talk about religion in public. I'm not really for or against any of it as long as everyone gets to do what they each want. Meaning: thou shall not kill; except to run this _____ religion out of the country. thee was no religion in any of my schools either. Fact was you couldn’t talk about any. I'm not happy you cant have a Christmas tree in a school around here, but if it's imposing on other people then I'll have to live up to my own ideals and not impose.

The way I understand, this country was founded by folks who left England to practice a different type of religion. They made new rules and now we have the US. Ironic, the country was made what it is as a melting pot. Now we see signs the melting pot is tearing it apart.

So my question is: How do we find a person we can elect as a leader that will do something. I'm not even going to get specific about what to do because I'd be happy to see some one just make a call and do it. Bushy did it by going to Iraq. I didn’t agree with the what or why but I'll give him a credit for making a decision and doing it. I can’t recall anyone coming up with any bold movements on things in this countries day to day though. taxes, religion, immigration, health care, retirement... it's all just one wishy washy compromise after another and I don’t see anyone happy. too much mush. So how do we get a person with some strong ideas and not just another guy who was president of the student council to enter politics?

Read carefully what Damir just said. It isn't just the minutia-mind-control in the schools, but also the teachers hands being tied to do any actual real work, i.e. teaching and discipline. I also think the minutia-mind-control in many other aspects is troubling. So again, look to the East and see what lessons they've learned, remember how America used to see itself superior and why, and now look where we're headed.

Who is angry? I just posted how things work around here - we`ve had separated religion and school system (in "socialism" system), but teachers were forced to teach in "socialism" way.
Now we have Cathetism in schools. I really can`t say much more about positive or negative aspects of this - I`m not into school/education system.

Thats a little cryptic there Bud. Minutia mind control? This idea of the teachers hands being tied to do any real work; I can't understand what you mean though I have tried to think carefully? Who is preventing them from working?

D-Man; what about Marta? Don't you plan on being involved in her education? As a good parent I know you will be there to help her through her studies so how can you say you are not involved in the schools?
I spend hundreds of hours every year since my son started in kindergarten working and helping in the schools; you have to in order to protect his interests.
