Nice day, and nice woods/hills (700-950m)...

What area of the country is that photo and what do they call those hills? Is that granite?
Those hills resemble the Catskill mts in New York; geologically very old with granite and shale deposits. Here there are parts of the Adirondaks that have not been mapped or explored. You can walk from Peekamoose MT over 300 miles straight into Canada without hitting a road or civilisation. Funny because the trails start only 40 mi north of the Bronx at Bear Mt.

Jack Kerouac devotes a whole chapter of "On The Road", to that spot.

Looks like a real nice day; swing by and pick me up next time; I love hiking. I'll pack the wine skin and some granola bars.

Yes, old stones, granite. It is the "Papuk" mountain, area of about 50 km E-W, and 10-20 km N-W. With close mountains it`s larger area, but nowhere near 300 miles - it`s the small country. Their names - Papuk, Psunj, Dilj... are ancient, at least "Proto-Slavs", no one knows what they mean. Very old woods are rare, but even today it`s not "tourists-polluted" area. Interesting are many old citadels from Middle Ages, half pulled down, in deep forrests (photos another time :-))...

Yes, but most of the people here even don`t know those citadels exist, or where. I "found" about ten of them, mostly in deep forest and most of them in bad shape - just some stone walls and tower, 14-15th century. Then Turks use them in 16-17th century, most of them destroyed or abandoned about the end of 17th century, dark times:-).
Unfortunately, I don`t have a many useful (digital) photos, (for now).

I believe there is a certain type of feeling surounding those buildings. I am not a fan of supernatural explanations or conspiricy theories but there are fundamental ambience cues that exist amongst these types of age-old human constructs. Wish I could see them in person.
Lke the feeling people get around the remains of Auscwitz.

I agree with that assessment. Kind of along the same lines as my beliefs. Neat stuff.

"Only positivism is confident that a stone is a stone and nothing more", he said, "but every simple-minded woman or child knows very well that a stone from the church wall and a stone from the prison wall are two different things."

P. D. Ouspensky (1878-1947)

(Russian mistic philosopher; in the book "Tertium Organum" he wrote about fourth dimension, perception, logic, ezoteric studies, love, God and Universe, "souls" of stones and woods... IMO - one of the "must have" books.)
