Dear Wayne,

We recently rearranged our living room and I can now build a set of corner horns. I noticed that you mention that corner horns can be built with 10 & 12" drivers but do not see any pricing on these on the pricing page. Could I order the corner horns with JBL 10 or 12" drivers? I have a really nice subwoofer for the lower frequencies and do not really need a 15" or 18" woofer. I have also heard that smaller woofers are faster and sound better. Is this true with the JBL woofer? Any thoughts on this?

Also, is it worth spending the extra money on the JBL over the high end Eminence (Kilomax)?

Please let me know. Thanks. Doug

The Theater Series six π uses a 12" woofer. I don't have any other current π cornerhorn designs that use 10" or 12" woofers.

JBL Professional Series woofers have shorting rings that reduce distortion considerably. Eminence woofers sound very good, but they don't have shorting rings. If you need maximum SPL, Kilomax drivers have some advantages over JBL, but if you want highest quality sound, the JBL's have a bit of an edge because of flux stabilization from their shorting rings.

Hello Wayne. Could I substitute a 12" JBL in the Theatre six? If yes, what would the system cost?

I am not aware of any JBL woofers that are a drop-in replacement for the woofer used in the Theater Series six π cornerhorn. One might be able to design around the 12" woofer you have in mind, but I don't have any plans that use a JBL 12" woofer. None of the current models would be suitable. However, the JBL 2226 (15" woofer) works very nicely in the Professional Series seven π cabinet, which is roughly the same size as the Theater Series six π cornerhorn loudspeaker.

Hi Wayne. Please email me the design for the Pi 7 professional corner horns. I would like to see how they will fit in the living room. I am interested in building the horn for the midrange as well.

Kind Regards,

Doug
