Had a short but sweet session spin session today. And I couldn't complete it without giving a listen to a fairly new acquisition I play often. A reggae artist from the 70's named, Jackie Mittoo. They called him "the keyboard king of Studio One" there in Jamaica. He spent some time in Canada performing and recording. This album is from one of those sessions.

Colder than a well diggers arse today. So some tunes and a cheery fireplace stove fire. I like classic jazz and Coleman Hawkins more than meets that category. A venerable sax man from St.Joe Mo. Back in the heyday of it all. From a new reprint I recently got.
The Hawk Flies high.

We got a rare blizzard Sunday to Monday that dropped just under a foot of snow with a thin ice layer below. And cold? Shush. Man it's toe-up cold. That arctic blast is worse I think. Below zero this morning.
Well I'm just gonna have to spin some platters this afternoon. And right out of the gate I'll throw on some Albert Collins from his Frostbite album.
I was privileged to have seen Albert perform a few times. He'd do these songs like Snowed in with a bit of dialogue and using his guitar for sound effects for emphasis. Some of my best live music memories.
