The United States is the most incarcerated country on this planet. The answer always is to, get tough on crime. It looks like Singapore like China invests a lot in their infrastructure and probably their social structure to allow people to focus on careers and family. Without just trying to get by financially.
America has lost its way from its maniacal pursuit of the free market. Pushing out governments role in providing social initiative at cost. Putting the public at the mercy of private for profit enterprise for their health needs, education, utilities etc.. Now even cannibalizing such things via speculation for the investor classes.
And the landscape of our society shows the ugliness outwardly in our decaying infrastructure and inwardly by being at our own throats politically, economically and virtuously.
