Are you going to watch the game? If so, do the commercials and halftime show? Speculation about Sunday's Super Bowl commercials is a hot topic on the radio lately. I guess I'm looking forward to seeing the commercial with the father who chases down his child's pacifier, since that's relatable, and it will be nice to see a dad in that role. I can't say that I view the commercials as the must-see attraction, though. I think the halftime show will be interesting, but that's because I like Prince and Purple Rain is on the setlist.

I won't be watching. Even though I live in K.C.. I feel like I jinx them when I watch. Totally dumb of course. I'm maxxed out on all the hoopla frankly. Non stop rah-rah. And the commercials don't do a thing either. I'm a total killjoy. Hope the Chiefs win. If they do I'll certainly hear fireworks going off everywhere.

I don't believe that I'd be able to avoid watching the game if my team played. Sadly, we've never made it to the Super Bowl, so that's hardly been a problem. How exciting for you guys, Rusty. I hope your team wins.

Madison, I don't care that much about the commercials, but I'm looking forward to the halftime show. I'm not a massive fan of Rihanna, but it should still be interesting.

The major downside for all this hoopla is the inevitable. "We Need A New Stadium", that the morbidly rich owners foist on the cities they inhabit. They're leverage is a sly threat to move. And that kind of buzz is going on in KC. So the boondoggle is on for both of our franchise's to have new, new, new expensive stadiums that the public gets hornswoggled into with higher taxes while the owners enjoy tax abatements. Most of the public is priced out of even going to sporting events now.

All this over the decades has blunted my interest in the whole mega sports cheerleading that you can't avoid. I'm all for the fans that live and die with their teams. But they're being exploited by those that can afford to be public minded. But won't.

Of note is the one publicly owned sports team in America. The Green Bay Packers. Perennially successful in a small market and owned by over 530K owners. Their stadium is modest, their town is small, yet they have been one of the most successful teams in the history of professional football. That's saying something about "socialism".

Congratulations on your team winning, Rusty. I understand what you mean about the tax situation, which is a real shame. Many team owners can more than afford the upgrades themselves.

I was underwhelmed by Rihanna's performance. I believe that the performers are expected to lip sync, so I don't begrudge her that. It's just that she was so bad at it.

No major commercial wins this year either. The game was the best part. That's how it should be.

Exciting end of the game! Regarding the ads, I enjoyed seeing Will Ferrell in the Squid Game parody. I also thought Sarah MacLachlan was funny in the Busch Light commercial.
