Can anyone comment on the Eminence Definimax 4015LF in comparison to JBL's 2226H?

It looks like it has a shorting ring. I'm guessing it's Eminence's most direct comparison to the 2226.

I'm curious about the function of the shorting ring in particular, and how successful it is at reducing distortion compared to the JBL,(typically at 100Hz and higher), not so much it's frequency response.

At less than half the cost it is quite attractive.

Eminence has done a good job with their shorting rings, but they're not as effective as JBL under 150Hz.
